Stephen Judge

My interest in street photography stems from my work as a director on commercials and documentaries. I’ve been blessed to travel now and again, meeting new people and snapping some ‘behind the scenes’ shots. The science and art of photography has always fascinated me, be it motion pictures or still frames. Relationships with talented directors-of-photography on film projects has only enriched that passion.

After finishing film school I began working as a music video editor before completing my first theatrical short film through the Arts Council in 2004. The film’s success gave me the opportunity to direct television commercials. However it is my experiences shooting documentary subjects that has helped ground all of my work. It is from those adventures that this little collection of snaps has grown.

Just a hobby then. A side line. But one that reminds me how lucky I am to enjoy every aspect of what I do.

For you gearheads out there I shoot film on a Yashica Electro 35 GT (£50 on ebay), and a Ricoh GR1v. Digital comes in the form of a Fuji X100 and GR Digital I (yep the very first one). Stocks vary from HP5+, XP2 Super, Portra 400 and Tri-X (of course).
